We’re proud to announce the Carbon Fellows Program, the highest distinction and honor within Carbon for scientific and technological advancement and innovation. Our first two fellows are Senior Staff Research Scientist, Steven Pollack, and Software Engineer, Abhishek Parmar.
CARBON FELLOWS PROGRAM
Carbon Fellows are regarded as the guardians of Carbon’s future. The Fellows distinction is awarded to individuals that stand out within Carbon and their respective disciplines for outstanding achievements in science and technology. With a seniority of knowledge in their field, these individuals are often responsible for groundbreaking new concepts and technologies that drive Carbon’s growth.
Carbon Fellows are intellectual role models: providing guidance and inspiring excellence throughout the company, including through mentorship and leadership roles in major company initiatives as well as collaborations with external partners. As experts of the mega trends in their fields and beyond, these individuals most importantly showcase an extraordinary capacity for insight and thought leadership that helps drive Carbon’s strategy. These individuals fundamentally shape how Carbon defines and achieves progress.
SCIENCE FELLOW: STEVEN POLLACK
In his career as a polymer scientist, Dr. Steven Pollack has created tremendous impact in three sectors: academia, government, and industry. At Carbon, Steve leverages a unique set of perspectives based on his breadth of experience not just in polymer science but in computer science and medical device regulation. His work has involved significant technical achievements, including important contributions to the development of Carbon’s various resins such as MPU 100. Such materials have opened up new product opportunities for the digital manufacture of medical devices and systems. Steve is a polymer mastermind who, by example in the laboratory and through mentorship of others, helps foster a culture of innovation for Carbon’s life sciences team.
The life sciences program in particular embodies Carbon’s commitment to improving lives via novel applications of the company’s technology, and Steve has also been the primary guiding light steering Carbon’s overall strategies and research in this area. His leadership and insights in the context of a complex regulatory environment for life sciences applications of digital manufacturing have been instrumental to Carbon’s progress. With his leadership, Carbon has vastly expanded its focus on enabling previously unmakable, cutting-edge medical technologies to promote human health and well-being.
SOFTWARE FELLOW: ABHISHEK PARMAR
Abhishek Parmar is an outstanding software engineer whose insights and accomplishments have been indispensable to establishing and growing Carbon’s software program. As Software Architect, Abhishek has achieved a distinguished track record of contributions resulting in major technology improvements and new growth opportunities for Carbon. He embraced the challenge to create extremely user-friendly software for a complex physical process, succeeding brilliantly in this endeavor. He has helped build Carbon’s software with a structure that enables reliability, scalability, an optimal user experience, and seamless updates for both customers and future Carbon software engineers. Carbon’s hybrid connected printer architecture, printer user interface, and modular design of the software stack to promote quality and team productivity are key examples of Abhishek’s technical accomplishments.
Abhishek’s leadership has served to instill an incredible work ethic and inspire an unmatched standard of excellence for Carbon’s software team. The successes of the team outpace its size, a hallmark of Abhishek’s disciplined approach. He envisions a very bright future for Carbon’s software team and is inspired by opportunities to enable end-to-end ordering, manufacturing, quality control, and delivery of bespoke goods at scale. Abhishek’s contributions overall have provided the groundwork for software to emerge as a defining aspect of Carbon’s platform, an outcome that will continue to guide Carbon’s vision for the future of digital manufacturing.
