Former DuPont Chair and CEO, Ellen J. Kullman, Joins Carbon Board of Directors

REDWOOD CITY, CA – APRIL 26, 2016 – Carbon (Carbon3D, Inc.), today announced that Ellen J. Kullman, former Chair and CEO of E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company (DuPont), has joined its Board of Directors. Mrs. Kullman officially joined Carbon on April 14th, 2016, and is the seventh member of its board.

“Ellen brings unparalleled experience in market and supply chain development, having led DuPont for over six years, and will bring incredible value to our team,” said Dr. Joseph DeSimone, CEO and Co-Founder of Carbon. “Her commitment to innovation in science and engineering, and excellence as a business leader make her a natural fit for our Board of Directors.”

“I am excited to join the Carbon board and look forward to contributing to the company’s continued growth,” said Ellen Kullman. “I believe Carbon’s technology will be a catalyst for the creation of a new vertical within the chemical industry, driving product and business model innovation in industries as varied as automotive, consumer products, medical and more.”

Mrs. Kullman served as CEO of DuPont from 2009 until her retirement in October of 2015, leading DuPont into the 21st century with a focus on global science advancement. She served as the company’s first female CEO in its 200+ year history. Mrs. Kullman was elected Chair of the Board in 2010 and previously served as Executive Vice President from 2006 to 2008.  She has overseen both national and international business markets, building several high-growth business platforms including DuPont’s safety and protection businesses.

Mrs. Kullman sits on the Board of Directors of United Technologies and is a trustee of Tufts University where she is an overseer of the School of Engineering. She is also a member of the Business Council and the National Academy of Engineering, where she co-chaired the Committee on Changing the Conversation. Prior to this, she was a former member of the Board of Directors of General Motors Corporation and past chair of the U.S.-China Business Council. Over the past six years, Mrs. Kullman has been consistently named to Fortune’s Most Powerful Women in Business list, both nationally and globally. She holds her Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and received her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

ABOUT CARBON

Carbon is working at the intersection of hardware, software and molecular science to deliver on the promise of 3D printing, enabling creators to design the parts and products that will drive the businesses of the future. Carbon’s Continuous Liquid Interface Production technology (CLIP) was introduced simultaneously at TED 2015 and to the scientific community on the cover of Science Magazine (Science, March 2015). In April 2016, Carbon introduced the M1, its first commercial CLIP-based additive manufacturing machine, created as a comprehensive solution for the next era of design and manufacturing.
